About Mae
Megan “Mae” Raab (she/they) is a Brooklyn based artist and educator. During the day, they work as the CAPP Coordinator of Project SAFE, a sexual health program serving high school students in central Brooklyn. Here, she facilitates sex positive, queer-ceneterd sex education classes and a sex-ed theatre group. They utilize a student-centered pedagogy and strive to be creative, interactive, and anti-oppressive in all of their teaching and facilitation.
Mae’s artistic background is in dance and theatre. From age three onward they trained in classical ballet, tap, jazz, and modern dance, then attended Rider University to study Musical Theatre. They are a graduate of the Masters of Arts in Applied Theatre program at the CUNY School of Professional Studies. Mae’s artistic interests are theatrical directing, devising, and playwrighting, dance and movement, and multidisciplinary visual art. She is also a practicing researcher, having researched, written, and presented on interactive theatre and audience agency and engagement, and the development of a liberatory dance pedagogy.
